Gentle Walks in Pitlochry

The Black Spout

Grading: Gentle
Length: 2-3 Miles
Access: From Pitlochry

From East Moulin road, start along Tomcroy Terrace. When this road ends you should turn right and, after a few yards, a gate will open on the opposite on to a field on your left. Walk to the gate on the opposite side of this field and follow the path heading towards Black Spout Wood. Keep a look out for signposts and you will reach an exciting viewing platform which projects out above the hills.

Go right across from the viewing platform at the fall (ignoring the path down to the burn) and carry on until you reach the dirt road. Follow this for about 300yds before striking off left, following the signpost to Pitlochry. This leads to another footbridge over the Kinnaird burn, just below the Atholl Palace Hotel; turn left after the bridge and keep on until you reach Knockfarrie Road. This will take you back towards the town centre.

Loch Faskally and the Pass of Killiecrankie

Grading: Moderate
Length: Approx. 10 miles
Access: From Pitlochry or Killiecrankie Visitor centre.

From the Pitlochry Power station and dam head around the south side of Loch Faskally before joining the Linn of Tummel footpath followed by the Pass of Killiecrankie. You can walk to the Killiecrankie visitor centre before heading back to Pitlochry. To make the walk circular, follow the pavement of the B8019 briefly before turning right again to join the track alongside the River Garry back to Pitlochry.
